Surrounded by soft sand dunes, sun dappled forests and countryside in every shade of green, Wassenaar lies slightly inland from Holland's beautiful west coast, with its sprawling eight kilometre blue flag beach and is the perfect place for a family holiday or short break.
Aside from Wassenaar's natural attractions and theme park thrills, Camping Duinrell is perfectly placed to explore the nearby historical cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
What to eat and drink in Wassenaar
The Dutch adore potatoes. In fact, one of Vincent Van Gogh's most famous paintings is `The Aardappeleters' or potato eaters. Stamppot is the pinnacle of Dutch cuisine. A kilo of potatoes, boiled to oblivion, mixed with some really well done cabbage or raw endive and mashed into a pulp. Although Holland has a few other famous dishes like erwtensoep and snert (pea soup) the emphasis is on truly international cuisines, like Asian and modern European.
